Research Proposal

As I finished my Foundation of Scholarship Portfolio, I thought I will start with the last bit of the assignment "Research Proposal". The topic of the research proposal is to examine challenges facing Albania in becoming a successful tourism destination. The aim is to to analyse co-operation between public and private sectors, and the challenges building a positive image as a tourism destination.
Albania has recently been described as the last secret of Europe and with its scenic beauty and unique cultural heritage, Albania has much to offer to tourist as well as to business people: remarkable views, fine sandy beaches, rugged mountains in the north and ancient cities with historic monuments, museums as well as archaeological sites and castles, all within three hours flying time of most major European cities. In the year 2000 Albania became a member of the World Trade Organisation according to (Jaura, R 2007) where the government shows determination to build an open and integrated economy. However this destination yet remains last unknown destination for international markets because it is not an easy tourism destination to understand. Despite the potential for development of tourism industry, this destination is failing to reach the market that can bring a lot of benefits to the destination. Therefore, the aim is to research the barriers that are stopping the destination being successful and give recommendations about how this can barriers can be lifted and the tools that should be used to help the destination succeed in the tourism market. The difficulty remains due to the fact that there is not enough literature available and the primary research is going to be difficult to gather. This is because the government is not as cooperating as it should be. I have had several attempts to contact the Ministry of tourism but no luck whatsoever, therefore it is going to be challenging journey in order to reach the cause.
